What is a needle point divergent staples?

The point of the staple is very sharp and cut on an alternating angle, or bias. The purpose is to pin patterns on fabric without damage to the fabric. The "needle point" penetrates, flares to hold the pattern while the fabric is cut with shears, and can be pulled out without damaging threads in the fabric.
Can only be used with staplers specially designed for divergent leg staples.
