Generally speaking, 110V electric staple tackers have difficulty driving staples flush into hard wood. Commercial 220V tackers have the power to drive with greater force and do not have the same problem. However, most DIY-ers don't have access to 220V service.

The only exception to this is the Arrow Pro-Shot ET155. While a 110V stapler, it has 12 amps of power rather than the 10 amps common with other 110V tools. Amperage is the measure of a tool's actual power, not voltage. Also, it uses a narrow 3/6" crown staple which has more resistance to buckling in hard materials. It is the electric stapler we would recommend for hard wood applications.

NOTE: it is important with any electric stapler to damp the recoil which is the normal result of the tool cycling. Driving force that the tool generates is lost if it is allowed to recoil off the surface of the material being stapled; to avoid this loss of power, simply press one hand firmly over the top of the stapler head when stapling.

Since the crown width of ET155 staples is much smaller than those of traditional staples, they leave almost no visible evidence after they have been driven into place. It makes the ET155 a perfect choice for completing carpet and carpet runner installations.

ET155 gun's extended nose was designed particularly for staple placement in tight corners. Its shorten profile lets you work in the snug space of stair risers.
